Location Reccee

Scene Within A Home

For many of the scenes where Terry is trying to contact Jennifer or his 'reflective' scenes, we thought it would be appropriate to use one of our actual homes, deciding on mine.

Using my own flat will allow:
  • Easy access as it can be used at any time
  • More lighting options as we have control of the power sockets and lamps/ lights
  • Filming to take place immediately as filming permission can be done by me

Scene in an Alleyway

For the scene where Damian kidnaps Jennifer we needed a dark alleyway to film in. We decided to use the Highbury theatre in Boldmere.

  • The owners are easy to contact
  • The road is quiet with not much background noise
  • The area does not have many people walking during the evenings

Which of these logos is your favourite? Why?

I like the bottom, singular logo with the image, as it stands out.

Which Colour Scheme Should we Include?

I think black and white would suit it well.

Viral Marketing

Our films target market is young people between 16-25, therefore we would expect them to use social media. We are including a Twitter 'hashtag' in our promotional material as it will fit with our target audience. We are using the hashtag #findjennifer and including a link to a   fictional website named 'find-jennifer.com' which will link to our own film website.

Film posters that I find effective

The reason I find these posters effective despite the fact they are from different eras and different genres is the placing of the characters on the page. For the 'Due Date' and 'Black Swan' posters there is quite a conventional close up however it gives little away about the characters in the films, making the audience interested. These posters are also effective as they feature two well known actors (Robert Downey Jr. & Natalie Portman) which is something I cannot utilise in my own as I have a cast of unknowns. This is why I feel like the posters that will have a lot of influence on my own are 'Trainspotting', 'Lost Angel' and 'Ghost World' as they use very striking images in different ways. 'Trainspotting' features different cast members against an orange background, showing some unity between them, Ghost World features the two lead girls in quite a small image in the centre of the page, their bright coloured clothes contrast the plain background, giving the audience a reason to look and be interested and finally 'Lost Angel' features almost nothing except the title and a picture of the lead - this ambiguity is something that an audience would enjoy.

Prop - Missing Poster

I decided to create this prop using the software 'Adobe Fireworks'. The software allowed me to create a professional looking missing poster which creates an element of realism for the audience. I decided on the colour red as it is creates a sense of alarm and anger, adding to the thriller elements of my trailer if I utilise it well enough. Jennifer's features (such as age) will help give the audience a better sense of who Jennifer is. When Terry puts up these posters in the trailer it shows how urgent his need to see her again is.
