Film posters that I find effective

The reason I find these posters effective despite the fact they are from different eras and different genres is the placing of the characters on the page. For the 'Due Date' and 'Black Swan' posters there is quite a conventional close up however it gives little away about the characters in the films, making the audience interested. These posters are also effective as they feature two well known actors (Robert Downey Jr. & Natalie Portman) which is something I cannot utilise in my own as I have a cast of unknowns. This is why I feel like the posters that will have a lot of influence on my own are 'Trainspotting', 'Lost Angel' and 'Ghost World' as they use very striking images in different ways. 'Trainspotting' features different cast members against an orange background, showing some unity between them, Ghost World features the two lead girls in quite a small image in the centre of the page, their bright coloured clothes contrast the plain background, giving the audience a reason to look and be interested and finally 'Lost Angel' features almost nothing except the title and a picture of the lead - this ambiguity is something that an audience would enjoy.
